Well actually in this case, the shower! For those of you keeping count, I haven’t been able to shower for 14 days. I have managed to wash my hair in the sink and add a sponge bath here and there in the meantime but now it’s bonafide, I no longer smell.
The reason for this big event taking place is that on Monday, I had the drains removed and at that point was thinking I might be able to shower immediately. But no, gauze, itchy tape and three days later, the nurse gave me the go ahead. There really is nothing better than being clean when you have felt decidedly not so for a while.
When I went to see the plastic surgeon, he talked about me having a Kramer shower, so I have included the link. Enjoy!

The next step is the medical oncologist has sent off my tumor for an Oncotest. This will help determine the aggressiveness of the cancer and whether I have chemo or not. Should get the results of that in about two weeks, so all quite on the Western Front until then.
Thank you all for the continued love and support.
Amanda
Happy you finally got to take a real shower. Always keeping you in my positive thoughts!
Yes not being able to shower fully can be a real pissa- but so glad you were able to sing in the rain. Love that episode of Seinfeld- lol Great to have a sense of humor 🙂

When I first heard about the surgery you were about to have, I phoned a friend of mine now in her late 60’s who had a double mastectomy for breast cancer when she was about 50 or so. I wanted to understand what I might do as one of your many friends, to possibly support your recovery. Interestingly enough, the one thing she recalled was needing some help in the shower! This isn’t my particular helping point, but, I guess that first shower and subsequent ones really are markers for the process of recovery! Yay, Amanda! Still available for occasional shopping excursions and for cups of tea. Any particular sort of tea you are craving at the moment?
Glad to hear things are moving positively and that you sound good.
Ahh, to be clean feels so good–glad you were able to scrub-a-dub-dub! XXOO
